Robotized welding workplace

The project of Robotized welding workplace was developed for the branch plant in Varnsdorf within the modernization of the company and increase of the competitiveness in the market. This workplace is equipped with a top Japanese robot OTC Daihen with taxiway with 20 m and a controlled positioning device of the tonnage of more than 20.000 kg.
This workplace thanks to its design and size belongs to the largest workplaces in the Czech Republic and Central Europe.
This project was recognized as eligible under the program of supporting the development of the Operational Programme of Enterprise and Innovation (OPEI) which was declared by the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

This robotized workstation substantially increased productivity, quality and accuracy especially of the special technological elements. Also a decrease in production costs and increase in production capacity accompanied by an expansion of offered services have been noted.
For the implementation in the form of a turnkey-project Robotec CZ Ltd was the company selected as the System integrator. This company is the representative of OTC Daihen in the Czech Republic and provides the project implementation and at the same time is responsible for long-term functionality and quality of the system. OTC Daihen is the world's largest manufacturer of welding robots and also the largest Japanese manufacturer of High Tech digital welding machines for electrical arc welding.

This robotized workstation was put into operation in early 2011 and is equipped with a controlled positioning device with the function of a rotary manipulator which allows us to rotate the oversize weldments into a required position with a repeated accuracy. Displacement (adjustment) of rotary weldments is possible up to 17 meters. The system is modular and the workspace can be divided into one, two or any number of workstations with the possibility to use the positioning device and also the possibility of clamping on the desks for clamp jigs. The welding blowpipe of robot is equipped with a 3D laser search sensor for accurate location of start-point and of weld position.
In order to maximize the utilization of the capacity of robot and profitability of the production the company decided to invest also in the system software program that will allow the off-line programming. By means of this system with the possibility of 3D modelling can be optimized various production options, the duration times of start up of a new series can be shortened and a better overview of the delivery times and production costs can be obtained, all this without any additional costs.
